Robert Nance

Robert has played both upright and electric bass professionally for over 40 years. He has toured much of the United States as well as parts of Canada and Europe. For a number of years he sailed the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera as a bassist and orchestra leader for a major cruise line.
Along the way, Robert has had the honor and pleasure of making music with such notable artists as blues legend B.B. King, jazz and classical trumpet virtuoso Vince DiMartino, renown jazz arranger and saxophonist Tom Kubis, 1st call Broadway guitarist and conductor Ric Molina, pianist Frank Kimbrough, the late T Lavitz and bassist extraordinaire Victor Wooten, as well as pioneering Christian Blues/Rock artist “Darrell Mansfield”. Robert has appeared on numerous independent recordings alongside musicians such as Justo Almario, the “Kentucky Headhunters” and James Raymond.
Most recently, Robert can be found playing upright bass and fretless electric bass in an array of musical ensembles, in both North and South Carolina: Dr. Tom Wright’s “Cat and Mouse Ensemble”, The Gardner Webb University Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Clemson Faculty Jazz Ensemble, the old time cabaret and swing group “The Carousers”, Monty Craig’s fusion jam band “Funk Shua”, with jazz pianist Bill Gerhardt and with Ecuadorian virtuoso classical guitarist Rodrigo Rodriguez.
