Pitmaster Robbie Robinson has been cooking with fire since he was a kid. Originally from Lexington, South Carolina, he began his culinary training at Maurice Bessinger’s BBQ at the age of 15. He refined his skills in the kitchens on Shem Creek and in the Charleston Market at Anson Restaurant.
While living in Houston in the early 2000s, Robbie acquired his first Texas-style offset wood smoker and began his journey to unlock the sweet and subtle mysteries of smoking meats. Over the next 15 years he continued to learn and develop his own style and techniques. As the Charleston barbeque scene started to gain national attention, Robbie had already set the wheels in motion to take his all-wood smoked, handcrafted Texas and Carolina barbeque and artisan quality sides to the people of Lexington and Columbia.
In 2015 City Limits Barbeque was born and the mobile restaurant is presently building demand for his style of high quality barbeque and premium sides week after week.
