Chef Dallas McGarity began his culinary journey when he was a young child growing up in rural South Carolina. He became fascinated with food and cooking as he watched his mother and grandmother prepare traditional southern dishes. During his culinary school years at Johnson and Wales University in Charleston SC, Dallas became enamored with Italian cuisine. During and after school he worked at a few notable restaurants in the Charleston area as a cook, Sous Chef, and Banquet Chef . Dallas took the Chef de Cuisine position at Capriccio’s Ristorante in Mt Pleasant SC in 2002 and got rave reviews from the locals and tourists alike.
In 2004 Chef Dallas moved to Louisville KY and took the sous chef position at Volare on Frankfort Ave. Quickly moving up to the Executive Chef position, Dallas made a great impression on the local food scene. Since then he has worked with some of the best restaurateurs in the city of Louisville and also worked with Chef Dean Corbett at Equus/Jack’s as the Executive Chef.
In November 2010, Dallas took the helm as Executive Chef/Partner at Marketplace Restaurant in downtown Louisville. Since moving to Louisville Kentucky, he has been an invited guest chef at the James Beard House in NYC four times, participated in many regional and national food & wine events, and has been a fixture in the local culinary scene. Dallas does many charity events and has raised many thousands of dollars for national and local charities.
His passion for high quality local ingredients as well as his creative, but approachable style of cooking allows him to create cuisine that is elegant and unique while showing off some of the surrounding area’s best ingredients.
